About Michelle

Hello! My name is Michelle and I’d like to welcome you to my website.

I am married with two children and my background is working as a children’s nurse and also in adult nursing. I have always been interested in spirituality, especially the spirituality of transformation: God’s workings within the human soul and the way each of us is called to respond.

I discovered how to ‘wait on the Lord’ through meditation about fifteen years ago when I was 36 years old. It was such a wonderful and life-changing experience. Though I was brought up as a Catholic, I never knew such a way of prayer existed. It was a revelation to me to realise that silent prayer, contemplative practice, meditation – whatever you wish to call it – is one of the quickest and surest way to God. I also came to realise that meditation itself is still shrouded in mystery, out of sight from the crowds, like a hidden treasure.

When I talk to my friends and work colleagues about meditation they are always interested but have a rather old-fashioned notion that silent prayer is for the holy people, priests, monks and nuns. Not true! Meditation is for everyone; even if we can only manage a few minutes each day it works wonders for our relationship with the Lord.

This is because silent prayer facilitates listening as nothing else can; it shuts out the incessant chattering of the mind, enabling us to be more sensitive to the promptings of the Spirit.

If I meet someone who claimed not to believe in God but was still interested in meditation, I would encourage him or her to focus on the eternal truths, hidden in every heart: love, beauty, peace, goodness. There is a ‘spiritual hunger’ hidden within each of us but not everyone is aware of it or able to ‘name’ it, for one reason or another.
